Pump Repair Specifications
Electromechanex promotes best practice and reliability throughout its business.
Quality steps reinforce our procedures, which are based on IEEE, NEMA, and EASA standards. As an EASA Repair Shop, we ensure each and every repair is to the highest specification technical requirements of ANSI/EASA AR100-2020.
ALL PUMPS ARE ASSEMBLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EQUIPMENT TECHNICAL MANUAL, OUR IN-HOUSE MOTOR REPAIR SPECIFICATION, AND GOOD MACHINE SHOP PRACTICES.
By following these repair specifications, we ensure Pumps rebuilt in our shop MEET or EXCEED original the quality, by enhancing material and process specifications found on standard industry offering our Pump Repair Specification.
We back this up by covering all rewinds with a full 2-YEAR GUARANTEE.
The intent of the Model Repair Specification is to achieve a consistent, high quality diagnosis, repair and/or overhaul of a pump, and to return it to good operating condition with a minimum of delay and cost. Not all repair situations can be covered in these Model Repair Specifications. In the absence of specific instructions, the requirement shall be to restore the pump to the as-manufactured condition.
PUMP REPAIR PROCESS
1.0 Incoming Inspection
Our Pump Repair Shop performs a thorough appraisal of the motor’s condition, as received, to determine what specific repairs are needed as well as to find unsuspected trouble, perhaps unrelated to the obvious defect. Our technicians diagnose root cause and effect of the pump failure to help prevent a recurrence.
The pump must be inspected visually for parts that maybe missing and/or damaged. any defects or anomalies. Additionally it is documented when a pump comes in with heavy corrosion.

2.0 Disassembly
A thorough appraisal of the motor’s condition, as received, is to be performed, to determine what specific repairs are needed as well as to find unsuspected trouble, perhaps unrelated to the obvious defect. Our technicians diagnose cause and effect to help prevent a recurrence. Our appraisal will include a complete review of the following conditions of each part of the motor: General cleanliness, Cracked or broken welds or castings, Missing hardware, Wear or rub marks, including fretting, discoloration, charring, or other evidence of overheating, Looseness at mating fits, Corrosion, moisture, or oil inside the machine.

3.0 Cleaning and Blasting
All mechanical parts are to be thoroughly cleaned, sandblasted and inspected for defects, cracks or damage. Acceptable cleaning methods include steam pressure cleaning, shot blasting, solvent cleaning and immersion washing. Ensure all pump parts are clean and free of debris. The cleaning process allows for better inspection and paint adhesion later on in the rebuild process.

4.0 Inspection
Once all mechanical parts are thoroughly cleaned and blasted, a thorough inspection for defects, cracks or damage occurs This includes measuring the clearances, grading surface conditions. Visually check rotating components for excessive heating and other abnormalities, as well as an Inspection of condition of the Impeller and Pump Casing. Furthermore, measure and record dimensions of the following: Shaft extension, Journal and bearing fits, measure and record bracket fits for housings and bearings, the condition of ball or roller bearing housings.

5.0 Procurement
After the inspection is completed, defective components are identified and a full list of pump parts is made. Pricing and availability of OEM and aftermarket pump parts is obtained from pre-approved vendors. Prices are also gathered from 3rd party services, such as spray and grind on pump shafts, rebuilding mechanical seals, etc. In some instances, parts and materials are upgraded to superior quality products, such as premium ball bearings and our exclusive Gen2 polyurea pump bearing grease.

6.0 Machining
In many cases, we prefer to machine the parts ourselves using our In-House Machine Shop. Many pump parts such as shafts, casing rings and seal sleeves for centrifugal pumps, stuffing boxes and packing glands for other type pumps, and bearing housings can be sleeved and finish machined in our own machine shop. Additionally some worn parts can be coated with a polymer composite that can be easily machined in a lathe, drilled, tapped, filed, sanded and polished. This gives us ultimate control over the timeframe and finished quality of these pump components.

7.0 Balance Impeller
EMX Shop Balancing Systems are designed to perform measurements of vibrations and calculations in horizontal shop balancing machines and in the field. The pump impeller shall be dynamically balanced in a balance stand before assembly of the pump. Impellers are supported at the bearing position. Ref EASA AR 100 Dynamic balancing of the rotating element should be to the level specified by the customer. In the absence of a requested level, dynamic balancing to balance quality grade G2.5 (ISO 1940/1) should enable the machine to meet final vibration limits.

8.0 Assemble Pump
Once all of the parts have been received and verified, surfaces have been repaired, pump cases have been painted, and gaskets have been created, the pump can be assembled. All Pump assemblies are made in accordance with the equipment technical manual and good machine shop practices. All mechanical repairs on shafts, bearing journals, end bells, and other equipment are handled in-house by experienced machinists. All assembled components will be checked to ensure secure fits. Bearings packed with BMG Gen 2 Polyurea Motor Grease.

9.0 Final Testing
The best way to reduce risk while commissioning an industrial pump is to test it thoroughly before it ships. We test each pump in-house in our testing facility. We can perform basic functionality tests as well as pump performance and hydrostatic testing A full Mechanical run performed to ensure the mechanical integrity of the pump. This includes maintaining acceptable bearing temperature, vibration levels and no leakage from the seals or gaskets. The duration of the test is only long enough to verify that the pump will operate satisfactorily in the field and the bearing temperatures have stabilized.

10.0 Paint & Protection
At the completion of the test, the Pump standard external coating is an epoxy primer with a urethane topcoat or an application-specific paint, such as IP67 Marine epoxy. This coating is very robust and resistant to the harshest of environments. Pump products are cleaned and blasted to near-white metal to achieve excellent adhesion that lasts for years. The shaft shall be protected by either a rust and corrosion preventing coating or mechanical impact cover, and prepared for shipment.

At Electromechanex, we utilize the most state-of-the-art equipment for our motor winding analyses. Motor Winding Analysis (MWA) involves three equally important motor winding insulation tests to establish the condition of your motor winding insulation. This information will help in reducing motor failure that results in costly downtime, lost production, safety hazards and increased maintenance costs.
